Scientific and technical computing applications require highly robust and scalable network connectivity to support the massive throughput demands of high speed compute clusters. Panasas® ActiveStor™ delivers high amounts of parallel performance to both Ethernet and InfiniBand networks, the two primary network types deployed in high performance computing environments.
ActiveStor shelf support up to two fully integrated Ethernet switch modules for connectivity to customer Ethernet networks. Two are required for fail-over support and the ActiveStor 12 and ActiveStor 14 further provides active-active, high availability link aggregation to maximize performance. For customers with 10Gb Ethernet switches, each Panasas blade switch supports one 10GbE uplink via either an SFP+ or CX4 port. For 1Gb connectivity, the switch modules also support quad GbE links as an alternative to 10GbE.
ActiveStor systems are also an attractive choice for InfiniBand-based network environments. For InfiniBand connectivity, Panasas offers the InfiniBand Router 2 which contains four independent router nodes for up to 6GB/s of total QDR InfiniBand bandwidth per 2U chassis. Performance easily scales by deploying additional routers, matching the InfiniBand Router 2 bandwidth to the throughput capability of the ActiveStor deployment.
