Fremont, CA - Director, Product Marketing
Job Description:
The Director of Product Marketing will take ownership for worldwide customer and field-facing product marketing functions at Panasas. The will include activities ranging from creating outbound marketing plans to support global revenue targets, product positioning and messaging, sales force and partner training, press/analyst communications, business plan development, product launches and lead generation initiatives. Responsibilities may include:
- Develop go-to-market strategies, translate strategies into tactical plans and monitor execution of plans to drive measurable customer traction and sales growth.
- Define and develop sales tools and training materials such as Sales Guides, collateral, demos, customer presentations, product brochures, field bulletins, and white papers to allow the Panasas sales force to sell more effectively into targeted accounts. The ability to write clear and effective documents that translate technical information into customer understandable benefits is a key requirement.
- Work with company webmaster to create and/or manage the creation of content for the Panasas internal and external websites.
- Create product launch plans and drive multi-functional groups to launch new products while becoming the focal point for all external communications to the field that are related to the specifics of the new product.
- Craft product messaging, positioning and differentiation strategies for existing and new products and effectively communicate Panasas’ value proposition and business value to key customers and the market.
- Develop product pricing and packaging strategies that position the company’s products competitively and allow us to derive the full value of our products and solutions.
- Participate in press/analyst presentations, trade shows and marketing events as required.
- Work closely with Product Management to develop business case justification for new products/or features including financial justifications and ROI analysis to drive resource decisions based on quantifiable analysis and requirements
- Work with the Corporate Marketing team to help define lead generation initiatives and participate where appropriate.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum 7 years Product Marketing experience
- Strong inter-personal skills. A strategic thinker. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who can identify issues and work with the appropriate people across multiple organizations to make things happen.
- Good time management. The ability to balance and prioritize multiple activities.
- Good presentation and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience/skills in the following areas highly desirable.
- Technology domain experience in storage systems, computer systems or storage/network software.
- Storage subsystems: RAID, disk drives and drive interfaces like SATA, SAS, FC and SCSI
- Networking: Switching/routing, TCP/IP, FC, InfiniBand and SDP
- Systems: Linux clusters, Windows, Linux and Unix
- Software: Storage File systems, NFS, CIFS
- Market Domain experience in launching and selling systems into the enterprise markets or commercial technical computing market.
Education
- Minimum level of education BA/BS, MBA strongly preferred
